A Memorial For Your Loved One

For hundreds of years people have chosen to place a memorial as a lasting tribute to their loved ones.   We understand this can be an emotional and difficult time.   It is important to choose carefully.

If we can assist you with a design or guidance along the way then we are only too happy to assist you.   Personal attention is given to each client.  Our staff have been in the business for many years.

Choosing a Memorial

You have many options when selecting a memorial.  The Cemeteries all have rules and regulations which must be adhered to.

Areas in the Cemeteries are Lawn areas – suitable for plaques only, Niche Walls – plaques only.   Headstone areas – suitable for Headstones only or smaller marker if approved by the cemetery.   Full memorial areas – areas where the monument covers the entire grave site or partial,  with approval from the cemetery.

All memorials must have a foundation.   In the old days the memorial did not have to have a foundation and hence you will have noticed that many old memorials in the cemeteries have fallen to one side or collapsed.  These days this does not happen.

To continue with your choice you need to consider the height of the proposed memorial.  Height of the headstone for your proposed inscription or inscriptions, taking into account future inscriptions that may be placed on the headstone.

If having a full memorial (covering the entire grave site) the height of the kerbs (sides) need to be decided.  The most common heights are 180 mm (7″), 300mm (12″) or 400mm (16″).  Then you need to decide whether you want an open top (soiltop), or part open and part covered, or fully covered.

In the following pages you will see different designs, heights and colours.  Our range of memorial designs illustrated on this site do not cover the full choice available to you.   Should you not see the design you have in mind we will gladly assist in the memorial design to incorporate your own ideas.  This service is provided at no extra cost.

Once you have chosen your memorial you will need to give some thought to the wording you would like inscribed on the headstone.  We are also able to assist you with some wording verses.
